Kidnapped the film is based on the adventure novels Kidnapped 1886 and Catriona 1893 by Robert Louis Stevenson set just after the battle of Culloden. The lead character David Balfour comes of age and tries to claim his considerable inheritance only to be refused by his custodial uncle, who then arranges to have his nephew KIDNAPPED by ship and sold in to slavery in the new world. The film stars Michael Caine in the lead role of David Balfour, and co-stars Trevor Howard, Jack Hawkins, Donald Pleasence, Gordon Jackson and Vivien Heilbron.
